NNCS organizes health camp
ITANAGAR, Nov 14: NN Charitable Society (NNCS) in collaboration with State Health Society of Arunachal organized a two days mega health camp at School ground of Govt. M.E. School of Khemlee village recently.
A total of 497 patients have benefited from the camp and medicines were distributed to the patients free of cost.
Doctors from Arunachal State Hospital, Naharlagun, including Dr. Taba Khana Eye Specialist and team from CHC Sagalee led by Dr. B. Bam MO, enthusiastically conducted the health camp.

M.Chawlo, DTO cum PD ATMA Lohit motivated the mithun owners not only to rear the animal as sacred animal but also for getting economic benefit from its meat and milk.
Dr. PK Mallick, Program Coordinator KVK, Lohit presented a power point slide on rearing mithun for both milk and meat and its value added products like dried mithun meat powder (Chuvi), Meat Patties, Lassi and burfi prepared from mithun milk, leather items and many more. He also gave detailed about Breeding, Feeding and Management of Mithun in a scientific manner.

Latest media house attack case: 1 accused apprehended
ITANAGAR, Nov 14: In a major breakthrough, Capital Police nabbed one Tagyo Sonam, age about 33 years, of East Kameng district, one of the prime accused in Echo of Arunachal attack case, from Polo Colony, Naharlagun today.
He was sent to 14 days police remand by the court of JMFC Naharlagun and police started interrogation of the accused, according Capital SP Surender Kumar. Four police teams are conducting intensive raids throughout the Capital Complex to apprehend the other culprits, the SP informed in a release. CO assaulted at Koloriang, Orgs condemn
ITANAGAR, Nov 14: In a bizarre incident, newly posted Circle Officer of Koloriang namely Gyamar Amte was physically assaulted by few unidentified miscreants on Tuesday. Amte received grievous injuries. Sources from Koloriang said that incident occurred around 11 pm at the Inspection Bungalow when Amte was about to sleep. The attackers escaped from the scene after assaulting Amte. A case has been registered at Koloriang Police Station, informed DIPRO Koloriang. Amte, a 2012 APCS batch cadre reportedly was brought to Itanagar and currently he is undergoing treatment at RK Mission Hospital.

Tigress escapes from Zoo, recaptured
ITANAGAR, Nov 14: Giving tough times to Zoo officials and nearby residents, this morning around 7 am a tigress named “Nang” escaped from its enclosure by jumping over the wall measuring around 10(ten) feet from the Biological Park Itanagar immediately after she was removed from her night shelter. While escaping from enclosure she injured an animal attendant and then ran way to the nearby jungle.
The Zoo staff swung into action and started following her. The team led by Range Forest Officer and Veterinary Officer manage to locate the animal near Bhuka Nallah, where she was hiding inside a bush. She got aggressive seeing the team and attacked the team thereby injuring two more animal attendants. Later the injured members were admitted at RKM Hospital for treatment. Putting their own life at risk, the Zoo officials continued to follow the tigress and located the animal inside the deep forest of Zoo where they shot two rounds of tranquilizers but it missed the target. Range Forest Officer Raya Flago coordinated with other Officers like Dy CWLW, Naharlagun, O.C. Itanagar, Dr. J. Panor, RFOs of Poma and Lobi Range during the entire search operation. In a joint operation of Police and Forest officials at around 1:10 pm the tigress was tranquilized inside the forest and later brought back to its enclosure safely.
While talking to this daily RFO Flago informed that tigress is safe and back to the normal. The Zoo officials deserve appreciation for their timely action. However, the incident comes as a shock to the animal lovers of capital. In September 26, a tigress name Oni was killed by poachers inside the Zoo complex. The police are yet to make any arrest in this regard. The incident had shamed the state and many questioned the safety of Zoo. This latest incident of tigress escaping from her enclosure raises further question mark over safety of the Itanagar Zoo.

SP writes to IGP on security of media houses
ITANAGAR, Nov 14: The Capital Complex Superintendent of Police Surender Kumar visited five dailies published from the capital, namely, Dawnlit Post, Echo of Arunachal, The Arunachal Times, The Independent Review and Eastern Sentinel on Sunday to review security set up. After details study, the SP has written to Inspector General of Police (West), PHQ, Itanagar about the need to take various steps to improve security measures in media houses.
The measures suggested by SP to ensure proper security includes putting up of revolving gate ensuring entry of one person at a time, putting up of concertina coil at periphery of the media office premises, putting up of barricades at entry gate to restrict easy access of vehicles inside media offices and putting up of alarm bell inside office of the editor.
To strengthen security measures of media premises, SP capital further proposed for deployment of armed guard. Media houses may deploy private security guards, and should provide security cabin for proper positioning of armed guard, putting up of additional sand bags for protection of security guards on duty, he said.
A patrolling party headed by SI rank officer has been detailed to patrol around media offices between 3 p.m. to 9 p.m and inspector rank officer shall supervise their patrolling.
Attendance register shall be maintained at reception of media offices and patrolling party shall mark their presence in the register as and when they visit the media office, the SP suggested.
To deal with any kind of emergency situation effectively, the SP Capital suggested few more measures. The exit gate should be cleared, senior police officers may be informed immediately for speedy response and assailants may be contained by any means, he said. The SP capital while submitting the above mentioned measures, pleaded for necessary action in this regard.
The state government often talks about providing security to the media houses and therefore it will be interesting to see how they react to the various measures suggested by SP capital in this regard.

Addressing the students, Byaling advised the students to abstain from indulging in destructive and evil deeds and to concentrate on studies to be successful in life. Ahi Valley cries for development
Dear Editor,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the attention of the Chief Minister towards the backwardness of Ahi valley, one of the remote areas located in the Dibang valley district under Anelih Arzoo circle. The area remains isolated. Virtually, there is no means of communication and there is no transportation facilities. As a result, the area remains underdeveloped in terms of education, communication and good governance.
It is worth mentioning here that surface communication project being undertaken by the PWD to connect entire Ahi valley is going on very slowly for last many decades. Therefore, the project should be handed over the BRTF for early materialization. Moreover, the authorities should give utmost importance to the education sector for balanced development.

Arunachal Pradesh Youth Congress (APYC) contributed 40 bags of ration items to Oju Mission Residential School for the Orphanage and Destitute Children, Naharlagun on the occasion of Children’s Day today.

VKV Nirjuli organized a ‘Grand Science Exhibition’ on the Children’s Day today where over 600 students participated enthusiastically and more than 250 models exhibited. The exhibition saw the culmination of one month’s intense planning and enthusiastic preparation by the students of Class VI to XI.
This science exhibition was inaugurated by Yeshi Wangmo Ringu, Director of Disaster Management. On her arrival, she was welcomed by the successful test launch of a rocket made by the students of Class IX and X. They were guided by senior science teacher Madan Sarkar.

The CM enquired the BRTF and contractors Tama fabrication about the cause of the delay for completion of the said bridge. The commandant 14th BRTF assured that the new Hari Bridge will be completed by April 2013.

Arunachal pavilion at IITF opens
ITANAGAR, Nov 14: Arunachal Pradesh pavilion in the Indian International Trade Fair 2012 being held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi was inaugurated by Dr. Avinash Kumar Mishra, Chief Resident Commissioner and Principle Adviser to Chief Minister, Arunachal Pradesh in presence of Tourism Secretary Sonam Chombay and many other dignitaries today.
The Department of Textile & Handicrafts is the Nodal agency representing the state in the Trade Fair along with Department of Tourism and Forest. Fourteen entrepreneurs/artisans from various NGO’s of the state are also participating in this event.
The theme of this year’s IITF 2012 is “Skilling India”. The state representatives are showcasing their various items made by local artisans in weaving, cane and bamboo, carpentry, knitting, wood carvings and metal work etc.

Arunachal’s exhibition stall in WTM receives positive response
ITANAGAR, Nov 14: The exhibition stall set up by the delegates from Arunachal Pradesh in the recently concluded World Travel Market (WTM), the leading global event for the travel industry, at London drew huge response.
The Arunachal delegation consisted of Sonam Chombey, Secretary, Tourism; Ankur Garg, Secretary, Planning; A K Singh, Director, Tourism; Jigmi Choden, Addl. Resident Commissioner, Arunachal Bhawan, Delhi; Bengia Manna Sonam, Asst. Director, Tourism; Tanyup Kopak, District Tourism Officer, Itanagar and Bengia Mrinal, Tour Operator. The four days WTM held from November 5 to 8 also marked its 33rd anniversary and it was participated by around 48,000 senior travel industries and government officials.
The Arunachal’s stall set up in Indian pavilion under the theme ‘Incredible India’ received a positive response from both national and international delegates. Numerous enquiries were received and networking took place with tour operators, travel writers and hoteliers. The visitors also enquired about infrastructure and investment opportunities in Arunachal, particularly about the number of hotels in the major tourist circuits. An understanding was arrived at with CGH Earth (Hoteliers) who wish to set up hotels in remote location in the state. The CEO is likely to visit Arunachal in December to work out the modalities.
Discussions were held with Green Rock Ltd a company working with adventure tourism wished to venture into Arunachal Pradesh in adventure tourism and community development projects. The promoters will visit the state to reconnoitre the probable cycling routes during March 2013.
A Romanian television company has proposed to make travel episodes on Arunachal Pradesh.
However, many tour operators expressed difficulties caused by the duration provided by Protected Area Permit (PAP). On being informed about the simplified process and longer duration of stay under the new PAP regime, tour operators such as Mercury Travels, Mahout (UK based) and Le Passage to India have expressed their interest in undertaking operations in the state.
An exclusive and intensive meeting was held with M. Varte, Asst. Director, India Tourism, Frankfurt and an agreement has been reached to effectively promote the tourism potentials of the state.
